Bach Ma: Path to the Clouds

Before entering the park, we will visit a museum dedicated to the local flora and fauna. Park staff will take us by motorbike to the summit of Bach Ma Mountain at 1,450 metres. Here stands the famous Hai Vong Dai viewpoint, one of the best places in Vietnam for panoramic views across Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam. In clear weather, you can see the coast and the pink Tam Giang Lagoon wrapped in morning mist. From the summit, we begin the hiking section downhill.

After the summit, we will head deeper into the park and follow the Five Lakes trail. This scenic canyon has a cascade of waterfalls and natural pools where you can swim. The water is clean and cool, making it an ideal place to refresh before the next part of the adventure. We will have lunch in nature and join a workshop on preparing a famous Vietnamese dish.

Ruins of French villas, old roads and abandoned buildings swallowed by the jungle still hide along the trail. In the early twentieth century, Bach Ma was a resort for the elite.

We will then continue to the spectacular Do Quyen Waterfall. It is about 300 metres high, with impressive views from the sheer cliffs. Stone steps run alongside it, and descending them brings you beneath the waterfall, where you can appreciate its scale and power.
